Emily Euman
I grew up in a small country town in Latrobe Valley, Victoria and began my dance journey at the age of 2 ½. As my love for dance grew I joined a local studio, Gippsland Academy of Dance, where I trained in all styles of dance for 8 years. While training here my passion and love for dance grew immensely. At the age of 14, I moved to Melbourne where I trained at the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School for 2 years in Years 9 and 10. I was mentored by some of Australia’s most recognisable ballerinas including Madeline Eastoe, and this is where my Ballet training and technique escalated to another level. I then studied at the Transit Dance Academy for Years 11 and 12, where I trained for 2 years to focus more on my Commercial Jazz and Contemporary training. I have also been a part of Dance Prescription for 4 years now, starting my journey in 2019, where my jazz technique has excelled to another level. Rejoining in 2022, I was offered the opportunity to become a Lab Assistant halfway into the year. I have now travelled across Australia to assist in Melbourne, Adelaide, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast and Perth, and was chosen to assist on the 2023 UK Tour, travelling to London (England), Cardiff (Wales), Glasgow and Edinburgh (Scotland). This experience has changed me as a dancer and a person, and I am so grateful to have met and made so many new connections with dancers, teachers and choreographers.
I have a background of 3 years of aerial training, consisting of Silks and Lyra (Hoop), coached by a former aerialist from Cirque Du Soleil, Rachel Hunt. I have also had private singing coaching with Sophie Weiss for the past year, who is a former performer mostly known for playing Elsa in Frozen the Musical AUS.
I was very successful in the competition scene, winning overall aggregates repeated times at the Morwell Festival of Dance, and Latrobe Valley Eisteddfod, and have also won Champion Dancer at Follow Your Dreams. I have also grown up learning the ATOD syllabus and have been very successful in their State and Australasian Ballet Scholarships. The highlight was in 2019 when I was awarded 1st Place in both the ATOD Victorian Scholarship and ATOD Australasian Scholarship.
I have also participated in many dance programs, including RISE the Performance Experience, representing them as an Ambassador and as the Senior Team Leader in the Dance Stream, The Ballarat Dance Awards, and awarded Scholarships to Jason Coleman's Ministry Of Dance, Transit Dance, Dance World and most recently Brent Street Intensives. I have just completed training at the Sydney Dance Company’s Pre-Professional Intensive.
I am also very passionate about teaching and educating young dancers.
